8 OF THE BEST GREASY HAIR HACKS

Do you ever wish you could jump on the bandwagon of just how amazing second, or third, or even fourth day hair is… But that oily scalp just won't let you live. You can't seem to get by without a can of dry shampoo or a shower. This ones for you! For all the gals out there struggling with a constant oily scalp.

Bye bye oily hair.. 👋

Tip #1: Stop over-washing

I know, I know, you're tired of hearing about this tip. How am I supposed to cut back on the washing when my hair gets greasy after a day? If you are already washing your hair once a day yet you still have an oily scalp by the end, cutting back on how often you wash could end up being extremely beneficial. Here's why- Overwashing strips your scalp of its natural oils which then forces more oil production to rehydrate that scalp. You need to retrain your hair that you won't be washing it every single day. Try your best to wash less often.

* & remember your BFB extensions only need to be washed every 30 days/uses..

Tip #2: But wait.. How are you shampooing?

This might seem like an obvious one but make sure you are thoroughly rinsing out your shampoo. What you might think is oil could actually be residual shampoo buildup. And don't skip the conditioner!! A lot of people think because they already have an oily scalp that they shouldn't be using conditioner, but you can, and you should. Apply conditioner on your ends only, your hair still needs it, but avoid your roots.

Tip #3: Use a scalp scrub + scalp scrubber brush

It's time to finally buy yourself a scalp scrubber brush. Stimulates hair follicles to help with hair loss + product buildup on an oily scalp. If you also struggle with a flakey scalp a scalp scrubber will be your best friend. Use it when applying shampoo or conditioner for an extra scrub. Tip #4: Apple cider vinegar rinse

An apple cider vinegar rinse is a great remedy for scalp clarification. Mix 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup warm water. After shampooing, apply the ACV solution generously to your scalp & let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Anyone with an oily or dry scalp would benefit from this.

Tip #5: Reduce dry shampoo usage

What we all do when our hair starts to build up with oil, pull out the dry shampoo can! Easy fix. Believe it or not but using too much dry shampoo can result in unwanted product buildup. This can end up dehydrating your scalp which then causes more oil to produce. Find a happy medium with product usage.

Tip #6: When was the last time you cleaned your brushes?

Hairbrushes can end up holding onto a good amount of oil, and the more you brush, the more oil gets distributed. Make sure to frequently clean your brushes with a little bit of shampoo & warm water. It is also beneficial to cut back on how often you are brushing your hair.

Tip #7: Avoid silicone based products

A bling word that we all seem to love & continue buying, anti frizz. Surprisingly, anti frizz or shine enhancing products contains silicone or oil. Silicone can weigh down your hair and make it appear greasier. Your best bet is to avoid any sort of product like that & opt for volumizing products to lift hair up.

Tip #8: Avoid using a straightener

As much as you want to pull out the flat iron, it can actually end up making your hair appear greasier. Reason being is it drags down oil from your roots to ends. The best you can let your hair air dry, the better. Read our blog post on our favorite Easy Heatless Hairstyles.
